Candidate Eligibility

BSBEMSTI is currently practicing an open enrollment process.  All prospective students should register for a performance outcome driven site found in the course calendar.  Registration is an online process, and applicants will be acknowledged by the Course Coordinator.  Hyperlinks for on the Education front page will direct your browser to another site.   
 

Persons who desire admission must meet the following eligibility requirements at the start of the course: 

  1. Must be at least 18 years of age (unless an exception has been granted by the faculty advisory board)
  2. Must provide documentation of current immunizations (see application packet for details)
  3. Possess a high school diploma or GED for EMT-Basic programs.  Intermediate/Paramedic candidates must have a current EMT-Basic certification.
  4. Pay the course fees, or make the minimum deposit for the specific course upon registration.
  5. Able to read and write the English language, and be physically able to perform heavy lifting or strenuous activity.  Please visit http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/emstraumasystems/JOBDESC.sHTM For more details regarding the functional position description and the disabilities statement.
  6. Submit a Criminal Background Check as outlined in the application packet.
